DIY Liquid Eyeliner

I just fell in love with this tip I learned on YouTube from one of Carlibel’s older videos. I’ve been a huge fan of hers for years and I really enjoy her makeup tips and tricks. She is such a sweet person and a fellow “Tri-state” makeup artist.

In her video, she suggested using MAC Fix Plus to make any color liquid eye liner you desired. This is such an excellent tip because sometimes you may not have a particular colored eyeliner that goes with your outfit or look. That was my case today. I wanted to go for a quick neutral eyelid and a “pop” of color for eyeliner. The top I wanted to wear was royal blue and white polka dots. Going for blue in the lid or in the crease was something I do occasionally and today I wanted to try something different.

Using your eyeshadow of choice, scrape a bit of eyeshadow on a makeup mixing pallet, the back of your hand or a flat clean surface. The blue I used is “Eyes on the 80’s” Eyeshadow Pallet from BH Cosmetics.

Add a drop or 2 of MAC Fix Plus close to the eyeshadow powder. With your eyeliner brush, (I used Sigma E 05), mix the liquid with the eyeshadow powder. Depending on the intensity you are looking for, you can thicken or thin the consistency by adding more eyeshadow or a few drops of MAC Fix Plus.

Here’s my final look.

Blue liner

For the lid, I used MAC Pro Longwear concealer. This will even out eyelid for any redness and veins you may have. And it also doubles as my lid primer to prep for eyeshadow. Apply all over lid up to brow.

The eyeshadow I used on my lid is from Makeup Geek eyeshadow pan in Vanilla Bean and I applied it with Costal Scents Classic Shadow Brush Medium Natural. The prices and quality in these brushes are excellent. I’ve been using it for months.

On my waterline, I applied NYX jumbo eye pencil “Milk

After my eyes are done, I moisturized my face. I let that dry and set in for 5 minutes then primed my face with loreal Magic Perfecting Base.   For foundation, I used Revlon Colorstay in shade 320.

Contour: L.A. Girl Cosmetics ProConcealer “Toast” and Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit in color “Havana”.  My under eye concealer was set with “Banana”.

Cheeks: My favorite Milani Baked Blush in “luminoso”. Just above the blush, I highlighted with ABH “vanilla” for added shimmer and glow.

Lips: NYX lipstick “Gala” topped with MAC “Viva Glam”

Add mascara and your done!
